In general, round trampolines smaller than 12ft diameter are for children only. 12ft and 14ft diameter round trampolines are ideal for the whole family, including adults! Of all round trampoline sizes a 12ft trampoline has the optimum performance and the best feeling bounce. If it's room you want for fun by multiple users then a 14ft round trampoline is the one for you. The original trampoline was designed as a launching pad for a circus act. The performer needed to gain height as part of his act and made a frame that was rectangular in shape and housed a canvas bouncing surface held in place by springs. George Nissen, an American gymnast, took this idea and developed it to become the modern day trampoline as used in sports halls and competitive trampolining.
The reason that Sports Hall and Competition trampolines are rectangular in shape is because they give a higher performance. Each spring works at a different rate which increases the potential energy put in by the trampolinist. This is converted into a faster upward motion resulting in height. At Super Tramp we have used our technical knowledge of competition trampolines to develop our unique range of high performance rectangular trampolines affectionally known as the marsupial range. These models include the Wallaby, Kangaroo and Boomer.
So if it's performance you want for greater height or "air time" then a rectangular trampoline is for you and put very simply, the larger the trampoline the better it's performance.
